Buddy was once living life on the road. We think he was dumped because he kept watching the cars go by in search of his people. He wouldn't come to anyone for weeks. Life hasn’t always treated him kindly. He was starving out on the road and had all types of worms. Buddy collapsed on our doorstep and we took him to the vet. He wasn't chipped but was very ill and VERY underweight. The first time we weighed him, he was about 50 lbs and most recently, after treatment, about 90 lbs. Buddy is fully healthy now. In spite of his experiences, he has learned to trust and allow himself to be a normal dog. Buddy loves everyone and his favorite person is a little 20 month old boy. He is a gentle giant most of the time but can be rambunctious when he gets excited. He does NOT like cats and he can climb a chain link fence fast! He knows basic commands and is house and crate trained. We hope this gorgeous lovebug, Buddy, finds a happy and carefree adopted life!

Update!!! Buddy had his first injection for treatment of heartworms on 11/20/19. He was quite sick afterward but is doing rather well now. His swelling has gone down a bit and he's not near as lethargic as he was. His next set of two injections will be right before Christmas. We hope that this will have him cleared up from heartworms and then we will schedule his neutering. He must have a clean bill of health before that can happen however.
This picture was taken the day after the injection. He just laid around all the time. Little to no movement except his excessive thirst and need to urinate.
Both of these were taken today. This boy is looking so much better. He is a love bug too. Always wants to be right next to someone.
The docs told us last wednesday that he has put on 20 lbs!!! Wow... he was really emaciated. I am so very glad he's doing so much better. Onward and upward...
Thank you to everyone who has donated toward his care. It really does help. If you haven't yet and would like to, there are two ways to do so. One is to go through https://www.gofundme.com/f/buddy-the-foundling and the other is to call Lange Veterinary Hospital in Sherman,TX at (903)-893-5561 and make a donation over the phone for "Buddy Yavner".
When this boy is well, we'll be searching for a forever home for him. You can help us that way by spreading the word. Thank you so much for your generosity.

Buddy is a stray (we think was dumped) in Luella Texas in August or September of 2019. He ran around for about three weeks trying to find his people while not coming to anyone. He finally showed up at my house starving to death. I felt horrible about him and left a little food and water in my front yard hoping that he would eat it. He wouldn't come to me and was very standoffish.
When he did eat, he would vomit it up so I knew he was ill. He finally ate and ran off again. I thought that he was gone for good but later that evening, I heard a noise at the front door. I opened the door to a half starved "Buddy" collapsed at my door.
I went out to him and he finally let me pet him. He allowed me to feed him again so I set up a bowl with food and water out front. The concerns were that I didn't know if anything he had was contagious. Once I knew that he was friendly, I was able to get him checked out by a vet. He had no chip and was full of worms of every kind. So, we had to make a decision... do we try and make this skinny boy healthy, do we put him down, or do we surrender him to a shelter? Well, we decided that since he was so friendly that we would rehabilitate hin (if we couldn't find a group that would do it) and adopt him out when he's healthy.
Since then, we have treated him for intestinal worms, gotten his rabies shot, and are currently treating him for heartworms which is an expensive endeavor. He has gained a little weight and has turned into quite the love bug. He is good with kids, other animals, (including cats) and all manner of humans; large, small, glasses or not, beard or not, short or tall...
If you would like to donate to this boys care, we could certainly use the help. There are two ways to do it. You can 1) contact his vet and make a donation over the phone for "Buddy" under the Yavner household (Lange Veterinary Hospital in Sherman,TX at (903)-893-5561) or 2) donate through go fund me: https://www.gofundme.com/f/buddy-the-foundling
